Saturday, August 29th, was a great night for the kids at the Highland Speedway. It was the third annual BIG Giveaway for the Jr Fan Club. A quarter race was held at intermission with $330 in quarters picked up by the kids. 140 kids were present and each took home a prize. Thanks go to all who donated to make this night possible.

The first race of the night was the Street Stock Feature from 8-22. It was Billy Kruep who took his first Feature win of the season who led the pack. He was followed by TJ Eilers, Michael Ripperda, Jr, Jake Hewitt, Larry Smith, Jr, Stephen Flannery, Jr, Stephen Fohne, Jeff Buss, Justin Leichsenring, Zach Hoffman, Pete Cory, Marcus Kruep, Brad Venhaus, AJ Cline, Jordan Bauer, Brian Crawford, Terry McCann, Vince Pratt, and Dennis Ponder.

The UMP Pro Late Models made their return to the speedway. There were 19 racers in the division. The first heat saw John Cory take the win over Clay Baumann, Johnny Prior, and Brett Cygan. Second heat saw Daniel Heck beat out Aaron Heck, Charlie Heck, and DJ Cygan. Third heat went to the driver who brought his broom along – Bobby Daudermann. Lined up behind him in the heat were Mark Oller, Matt Santel, and Jason Zobrist. Taking his second Feature win of the season was Daudermann. He was chased by Daniel Heck, Oller, Prior, Baumann, Santel, Charlie Heck, DJ Cygan, Ryan Seger, Zobrist, Brant Kehrer, Louie Baker, Jr, Ritchie Baker, Justin Vosholler, Cory, David Shaw, Brett Cygan, Butch Kruckeberg, and Aaron Heck (blackflagged).

Next division was the 20 car Steve Schmitt Modified division. Taking the first heat was Jim Werner, Jr who beat out Aaron Kleine, Eric Goetter, and Paul Becker. Second heat went to Steve Lach, then Dean Hoffman, Ron Hartnagel, and Roger Fohne. Third heat saw Chad Sellers take the lead over Robbie Eilers, Marty Smith, Jr and Brandon Roberts.  The dash belonged to Dean Hoffman who was chased by Lach, Werner, Jr, and Sellers. Taking his second checkered flag of the season in the Feature was Dean Hofffman. Order of finish behind him was Sellers, Werner, Jr, Eilers, Lach, Hartnagel, Smith, Jr, Goetter, Tyler Deibert, Kleine, Roberts, Andy Oswald, Chris Smith, Paul Becker, Eric Faust, Leon Price, Jr, Fohne, Stephen Plog, Dave McDougal, and Steven Ellison DNS.

The UMP Sportsman division had 22 racers. It was Greg Spencer who took the checkered flag in the first heat. He led Russell Eilers, Jimmy Cummins, and Rob Lee. Scond heat saw Jon Ripperda beat out Chris lafferty, Aaron Melton, and Josh Case. Third heat saw Ryan Eilers take the lead over Jimmy Miller, Danny Beard, and Tory Ernst. The dash saw Greg Spencer take the win leading Russell Eilers, Cummins, and Rob Lee. The Feature saw Russell Eilers take his 13th win of the season. He was chased by Ripperda, Spencer, Ryan Eilers, Miller, Melton, Lee, Tory Ernst, Rick Johnson, Allan Geiseking, Bryan Slover, Mark Bohnenstiehl, Danny Beard, Lenny Garson, Nathan Schmitt, Jon Huegen, Dan Ricklefs, Jr, Chris Lafferty, Cummins, Tony Hunter, Josh Case and Andy Casper, DNS.

There were 19 UMP Late Models. Taking the first win in the division was Brian Wolfmeier. He beat out Marty Smith, Jr, Mark Voigt, and Rick Salter. Second heat saw Chad Zobrist take the win over Paul Bailey, Dave Thornton, and Craig Smith. Third heat went to Frankie Martin, then Mark Faust, John Beck, and Brent Helmkamp. The dash saw Paul Bailey cross the finish line first followed by Zobrist, Woldmeier, and Faust. For the second time this season, Paul Bailey took the checkered flag in the Feature. Order of finish behind him was Faust, Voigt, Zobrist, Salter, Wolfmeier, Smith, Jr, Beck, Rick Standridge, Craig Smith, Thornton, Helmkamp, Mike Schulte, Michael Jacober, Shannon Kuhn, Roy Simmons, Matt Weidner, Martin, and Kerry Gaultney DNS.

The Street Stock saw 21 racers that came to win. First winner of the division was Stephen Fohne who led TJ Eilers, Dennis Ponder, and Zach Hoffman in the first heat. Second heat saw Kory Riegel take the lead from Larry Smith, Jr, AJ Cline, and Brad Venhaus. Third heat went to Jeff Buss over Billy Kruep, Justin Leichsenring, and Jake Hewitt. The Feature saw TJ Eilers take his first win of the season. He was chased by Fohne, Buss, Riegel, Ponder, Smith, Jr, Billy Kruep, Zach Hoffman, Cline, Venhaus, Michael Ripperda, Jr, Terry McCann, Stephen Flannery, Jr, Hewitt, Leichsenring, Pete Cory, Jordan Bauer, Marcus Kruep, Brian Crawford, Vince Pratt, and Bill Austin.

The highest car count of the evening went to the UMP Factory Stock division with 26. Starting off with the first heat, it was Trevor Isaak who took the checkered flag over Matt Hamblin, Justin Suhre, Scott Egbert, and Jason Schmidt. Second heat went to Austin Isaak who beat out Dale Bohnenstiehl, Nick Knebel, and Tracy VonRohr. Third heat saw the driver who brought his broom- Bob Zbinden. Zbinden led Sean Denison, Shea Gagne, and Joe Swip. Consi lineup at the finish line was Eddie Sterns, Kyle Seip, Jason Suhre, Ryan Emig, Travis Horner, Willy Myers, Rick Vivanio, Lacey Egbert, Ed Martiszus, Brent Trame, and Cody Ventimiglia. Taking his tenth checkered flag of the season in the Feature was Bob Zbinden. Order of finish behind him was Austin Isaak, Hambllin, Trevor Isaak, Justin Suhre, Bohnenstiehl, Knebel, Jordan Suhre, Denison, Joe Swip, Tracy VonRohr, Jason Suhre, Schmidt, Scott Egbert, Eddie Sterns, Trvis Horner, Bill Burke, Kyle Swip, Gagne, and Ryan Emig.   

Track Guidelines

Highland Speedway reserves the right to refuse admittance to anyone.

Drivers must be 14 years of age to race at the Highland Speedway. Drivers 14 and under must have permission from the track to race in the DIRTcar UMP Late Model, DIRTcar UMP Modified,  DIRTcar UMP SportMod division and DIRTcar UMP Street Stock division.

Minor drivers must have BOTH parents or legal guardians sign a minor release form for the driver to enter the race track. Minor drivers will sign the minor form each week during sign in at the pit shack. 

Each driver must enter their car to race every night. Every car that races must have a pit pass for the driver.
