BODIES:

1.  Frames: 1964 or newer OEM perimeter American rear-wheel passenger car frame only. No Sports Car frame. Frame must be full and complete, cannot be widened or narrowed, and must be able to support roll cage on both sides, exceptions are : weight jack in original line of spring tower allowed; frame may be cut a maximum36 inches forward from center of rear end housing; horns may be removed in front of steering box and notched maximum one inch at bottom for tie rod clearance; front cross member may be notched and boxed for radiator and/or steering clearance; maximum seven inch wide opening in side of spring tower for spring removal. All frames must be stock OEM. Must have loop to protect fuel cell.  Maximum two inch wide by four inch tall frame stiffener may be welded directly to outside of left side frame rail. Minimum wheelbase 108 inches; maximum 112 inches, both sides. No part of frame can be lower than four inches from ground except front cross member. No convertibles or station wagons. 18” side panels.  Maximum 8” spoiler. No stub cars. Nose no wider than the frame horns.

2. Roof optional.

3. Floorboard must be steel or 16 gauge aluminum.

4. Driver’s windshield opening must be covered with 3/4” minimum, 1” maximum wire mesh.  Minimum of three upright bars of 3/8” gauge steel rod welded to roll cage in front of driver 6” apart. Door window openings must be minimum of 12”.

          5.    All bumpers & nerf bar ends must be capped. Nerf bars 1¼”max tubing.  

6.  Bumpers: Must not be wider than the outside of the frame. Must run modified style bumper.  All cars must have            bumpers securely bolted or welded.

         7.    Wheels and tires:  Maximum 8” wide wheels.  Must be E-mod A or H tires.    Wheel covers and bead locks are    optional on right side only.  No outside covers on left side.  9/16” or 5/8” wheel studs must be used on right side.

      
      8.    All cars must have a box-type roll cage of at least 1-1/2” O.D. tubing, .095 minimum thicknesses.

      9.    All cars must be equipped with a minimum of three protective bars inside each door.

    10.     Halo loop must be a single bar.

 


SUSPENSION:

   11.     Minimum three-wheel brakes.  Brake adjusters are allowed inside the car.

   12.     Five-lug stock appearance spindles.

   13.     Stock lower control arms in stock location - may be switched per make. Must be Chevy to Chevy, Ford to Ford.                       Mono balls allowed.

   14.     Weight jacks may be used; screw type only, cannot be adjusted from driver’s compartment.

   15.    Steel  racing shocks only, must be nonadjustable and non Schrader valve. Only Promoter has the option to claim shocks for $100 each. Minimum 4 ½” coil over springs allowed.  Racing shocks may be mounted out board on the front end.  Racing shocks may be used on the rear.

  16.     Any upper pull bar allowed must be mounted from rear end forward and must be steel.  Pan hard bar and J bar will be allowed.

  17.    After-market brake pedal assemblies allowed.

  18.    Dual master cylinder allowed, may adjust in cockpit.

  19.    72” from center of rear end housing to the back of the block. 

  20.    Tubular upper “A” frames allowed. Swedge tubes are allowed. Can run hiems on upper A frames on top.

  21.    Weight:    Modified weight – 2550 lbs.
       
  22.     Rear Suspension - two options: aftermarket three link design or muti leaf spring design. All components must be steel. All mounts and brackets must be welded or bolted solid.
        A. Three link design requirements: No swing arms, Pull bar must be mounted within 6” of center of housing. May mount rear spring directly over axle housing or use coil cover eliminators (sliders). Lower spring perch or coil cover mount must be welded to rear end housing.  Birdcages must be locked. You may run one shock per wheel. May have one dampening shock above rear end.
       B.Multi-leaf spring design requirements: leaf spring must use steel multi-leaf springs with no additional suspension components besides one shock per wheel. Adjustable aluminum lowering blocks allowed. No coil springs can be used with leaf springs.
       Rear End – Any Steel approved OEM passenger car or truck non-cambered rear end allowed, must be centered in chassis. All components must be steel, except lowering blocks, axle cap, and drive flange. Safety hubs (floater) allowed. No quick-change devices. Inspection hole in housing required. Center section and yoke cannot be lightened. Solid steel axles and one piece drive flanges only. Full spools or mini-spools only (no type of lockers allowed)

 

 


ENGINE:

23.  Can mix and match frames and motors. 360 c.u. max. Factory OEM block. No roller cams.

24.  No 400ci block..

24.  Heads: Aftermarket or angle plugs allowed.  No aluminum heads. Chevy 23°. Ford 22°. Max 12.5 to 1’ compression.

25.  Intakes and carburetors: Holley 500 cfm 2-barrel #4412 only, No 4-barrels.  No modifications. Must pass gauge inspection.  Removal of choke assembly and air horn only.  No other alterations allowed.  Aluminum one-piece sand-cast intakes allowed.  Cast iron intakes allowed.  One 2” adapter allowed.  Air cleaner maximum height from air horn base 5”
 
26.  1.5  Chevy or 1.6 Ford ratio rockers. No shaft rockers. Stud girdles allowed.

27.  Any distributor allowed.  No mag or crank trigger.  MSD allowed.

28.    602 Chevrolet Crate engine allowed.

29.    Stock journal size. 3.48 stroke Chevy.

30.    Any steel oil pan allowed. No dry sumps. Inspection plug recommended in oil pan. No inspection plug and you may be required to remove the pan. Coolers allowed.

31   . No serpentine belts. Cog belts allowed for fuel pump only.

32.    Starter must mount in stock location. Must have steel bell housing.
 

 

CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSIONS:

33.  Transmission must have 2 forward gears and a working reverse  Must have functional clutch and no in and out boxes.

34.    Bert type transmission allowed.

35.  Blow proof bell housings required.  Automatic transmissions must run explosion-proof blanket or 1/4” steel scatter shield over converter

36.    Must have minimum 16 gauge aluminum for drive shaft tunnel.

37.  All cars are required to have a drive shaft loop 12” from end of transmission.

38.  All drive shafts are to be painted white.  No aluminum or carbon fiber drive shafts allowed.
  

 


MISCELLANEOUS:

.
39.  Must run mufflers.  No zoomies.  May exit left side but noise level must be below decibel limits. No tri-y or stainless steel headers.

40.  Any OEM style battery allowed one only, 14” x 8” maximum.  No 16 volt batteries. Must be mounted with a 3/8” rod and be mounted behind fire shield and out of driver’s compartment.

41.  Fuel cell required.  Must be contained in an approved container.  Fuel cell not to be mounted lower than center of rear axle, with minimum two straps 1/8” x 2”.  Electric fuel pump allowed only when block is not machined for mechanical pump.  Mandatory oil pressure control and a manual fuel shut off to be within driver and safetyman’s reach. 32 gallon maximum.

42.  Fan shroud required.

43.  Fuel: Racing gas or pump gas only. No alcohol, E85, nitrous oxide, propoline oxide, nitrous methane, or additives.

44.  All cars must have sturdy seat belts and safety harness, three- inch belts required.  Must be 5 yrs or newer and date tag must be visible. IMPORTANT: Five-point safety belts and flame resistant racing suit required.  Gloves recommended.  All drivers must have an approved racing helmet. Window net recommended..

45.  All cars running an electronic fuel pump must have an oil pressure activated shut off switch.

46.  A switch to disable all power to car must be installed behind driver within reach of safetyman at shoulder height and must be clearly marked on/off.

47. There must be an 18 inch number on each door and the roof.  All numbers and letters must be easily visible and readable by the track officials.  In the situation of duplicate numbers the track officials may assign a letter to you.  It is your responsibility to add this letter to your car on the roof, driver’s side and passenger side; failure to do so will cause you to be scored last for your event.

48. Lead must be painted white and mounted with minimum of two ½” bolts Lead may not be in driver compartment or outside body.

49. If you ran a Sportsman car for at least 60% of the races at the Highland Speedway in 2011, you may call the promoter for options/approval.

IF IT DOESN’T SAY YOU CAN DO IT, IT IS NOT LEGAL.

Situations not covered in any of these rules will be handled at the discretion of the track officials as they arise.
DECISIONS OF THE TRACK OFFICIALS ARE FINAL!!
FIGHTING POLICY
First offense - The first time a person starts a fight, they would be banned from Fairgrounds one year from date of occurrence.
Second offense - The second time a person starts a fight, they would be banned from Fairgrounds for three years from date of this occurrence.
Third offense - The third time a person starts a fight they would be banned from Fairgrounds for life.
NOTE:  Anyone returning to the Fairgrounds during the time they are banned will be charged with criminal trespassing. Fairgrounds consist of the pits, the grandstand, the parking lot and the entire Lindendale Park.

Track Guidelines

Highland Speedway reserves the right to refuse admittance to anyone.

Drivers must be 14 years of age to race at the Highland Speedway. Drivers 14 and 15 must have permission from the track to race in the DIRTcar UMP Becker Jewelers Late Model, DIIRTcar UMP Steve Schmitt Modified, DIRTcar Pro Late Model, and DIIRTcar UMP SportMod division.

Minor drivers must have BOTH parents sign a minor release form for the driver to enter the race track. Minor drivers will sign the minor form each week during sign in at the pit shack. 

Each driver must enter their car to race every night. Entry fee to race is $5 per car to be paid by driver. Entry fee will go into each division's point fund.
