The Street Stock and Hornet Features from July 14th will be made up on Saturday, August 25th!
The make up features for the Street Stocks and Hornets from July 14th will be ran on Saturday, August 25, 2012.
That night, we had announced that they would take place on Sunday, July 29th at the Fair, however several drivers expressed their concerns about running on that day. We listened to their comments and concerns, discussed the date and decided to change it after taking everything into consideration. Everyone wanted to know right away that night, what the plans are for the making up the features, it is very hard to try and make a spur of the moment decision about when to run the make up features.
We apologize for the confusion and inconvenience that it has caused for the drivers, crews, and fans! The make up features for the Street Stocks and Hornets from July 14th will be ran on Saturday, August 25, 2012. More announcements about that date will be coming shortly. Thanks!

Becker Jewelers Late Models

The competition in all the Divisions at the Highland Speedway is intense, every week one of any number of drivers is fighting for the victory. This week in the Becker Jewelers Late Models the battle started at the drop of the green flag and didn’t end till the checkers flew. Two of the toughest drivers in the area sat on the front row, the 78 of current point’s leader Chad Zobrist and the 6K of Michael Kloos. Behind them sat the 25 of veteran driver “Fast” Frankie Martin and the 11K of Shannon Kuhn who has recently stepped up to the plate with some pretty good runs.
Kloos jumped out to the lead running the high groove of the Speedway he was followed by Martin, Zobrist, and Kuhn was working the bottom. Cautions plagued the first 9 laps of the event, but Kloos maintained the lead, with Zobrist, Martin and Kuhn in tow. By lap 10 Zobrist managed to have a fender on Kloos as they passed the stripe. Staying committed to their respective lines around the race track the leaders encountered lap traffic by lap 19.

Highland, Ill. – (June 20, 2012) - Rodney Melvin has won a few DIRTcar Summer Nationals races in his day, but maybe none more thrilling than his last lap victory at Highland Speedway on Wednesday night that netted him a nice $5,000 payday.
Melvin, of Benton, Ill., meticulously battled his way from a seventh-place starting spot over the 40-lap main event to put himself in a three-way battle for the lead in the last five laps with then leader Randy Korte of Highland, Ill., and 2010 Hell Tour champion Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill. Melvin worked the low side and moving past Feger with two to go and then grabbed the lead from Korte exiting turn two on the final lap Korte, a former UMP DIRTcar Late Model National Champion finished second with Feger third. Current Hell Tour point leader Shannon Babb crossed the line fourth. Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., who is Babb's closest contender in the point standings, rounded out the top five.
